I will be in Ireland in July 2020 for a week.  I want to visit the Church of Ireland Clonfert Cathedral in the general area of Ballinasloe, Galway.  I understand it is diffiult to find and is not a regular tourist site but there is a caretaker who unlocks the church.  I am interested in the Cathedral because there are carvings inside including a mermaid carving and a carving with three angels.  My surname is McAuliffe and the McAuliffe coat of arms includes three mermaids.  This site relating to early Christian Ireland might have been the inspiration for what I think is an unusual coat of arms.  Is there a way to get in touch with the caretaker to prearrange a visit; I would not want to go there and not be able to get inside the Cathedral.
