I am an Australian descendant of Eliza LITTLE (abt 1837 - 1857) and her parents, William LITTLE (abt 1787 - 1854) and Isabella RIDDELL (abt 1797 - 1857) who immigrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1850 on the "Reliance".  I believe Eliza was about 11 years old on arrival.

They came from Co Monaghan and I believe they were born in either Newbliss or Clones and William was a farmer.  Sadly both William and Isabella died within a few years of their arrival in the Colony but many of their children appear to have survived and prospered.

I would appreciate any information about their births, marriage and lives in Co Monaghan.  I have read that millions of Irish left their homeland between 1845 and 1852 due to the disastrous impact of the Great Irish Famine so I assume this is the reason why the Little Family left Ireland.

  • Aussie LCD:

Our site has been very slow this weekend and I think that is the reason for your multiple queries.

The Clones Church of Ireland records are on the subscription site. I made a search and did not get any records for your family. The Killeevan/Newbliss records are not on Roots Ireland. I checked this listing of the status of C of I parish records and the Killeevan/NewBliss records are held in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin  https://www.ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/registers…

The RCB records are not on a centralized online data base at this time. You can likely get someone to search the records for a fee.
