  • I am looking for any information on the Connor family County Wexford who left for Liverpool in the mid 1860s approx.  (I posted earlier but seemed to have lost the post.)

    William John/ John William Connor born 1812 married Margaret.. born 1812.

    son Edward born 1840 married Jane ??
    son William born 1846 married Catherine in Liverpool 

    daughter Margaret born 1849 married Augustus Kronke in Liverpool 

    There may have been other children who didn’t survive.

    grandson William born 1863 possibly Edwards child.

    I have the family from 1871 on census plus Margaret’s wedding to Augustus in 1869.  But cannot find anything from their life in Ireland.  They are C of E on the uk census.

    I realise Connor is quite a common name and County Wexford is a large area, but fingers crossed someone can shed some light on them.

    The men were labourers, porters, bricklayer at various times in their working life. Many thanks

  • Hi Pat,  Was Edward born in Wexford in1840?
    I see  an Edward Connor which matches born in Wexford in the Merchant Navy in Liverpool?  This would be in 1877. 
    There are others in 1839 to 1846 no matches to William John / John William.

  • Thank you so much for your reply Margot.  Edward wasn't in the Navy.  He was a Dock Labourer, Porter.  My mother knew him as a young child but he was elderly and frail then.  On any paperwork I have found it says they are originally from Wexford.  Some earlier paperwork says County Wexford or just Ireland.

    Never any mention of actual town or village.  I did start to wonder if they came from elsewhere in Ireland and settled in Wexford later before going on to Liverpool.  Once in Liverpool they settled in 96 Leeds Street and stayed there after the children left until death.

  • Just gone through some paperwork again Margot and William born in 1846 is born in County Wexford on his census records.  The others are hit and miss with mostly Ireland and occasional Wexford.
