County Cork History 1602

I am looking for a recommendation for books, journals or articles that could assist my understanding of County Cork history immediately after the Battle of Kinsale. I am told that a group of O'Sullivans, Cliffords and Harringtons (about 1000 in total) fled after the loss of the Battle of Kinsae to seek refuge with O'Neill. Only a handful made it to sanctuary. Some died along the way while others stayed and settled in mountainous and marshy areas (lands not occupied by others) in northern Tipperary. The Harringtons who settled in Tipperary become the Hingertys listed in the Hearth Tax Lists of Tipperary in 1667. (I have viewed the lists and the Hingertys are there)  I want to investigate the veracity of this story. Are there standard texts I should be reading about this time period? Not being schooled in irish history I do not know where to start .....who are the respected authors for this time period??? Any assistance greatfully accepted. Cheers, Chris in Sydney
