2Hello all! My first post, and a longshot at that. I have 4 direct Irish ancestors, some were second and third great grandparents. All were born between 1818-1856. All four ended up in Detroit, Michigan, USA. I am coming to the Crowley reunion in Macroom in September with my cousin! I can only tell you their names, approximate year of birth, and two state
they were from Cork, Ireland.
John Crowley. born 1818. emigrated to Bangor, Maine. Married Margaret O Leary, in Bangor Maine, Feb 20,1849. Two daughters, Ellen and Mary. Roman Catholic, moved to Detroit. Buried at Mt Elliot Cemetary, 1880, at age 62.
2. Margaret O Leary. born~ 1825. Place unknown, burial unknown. Died approx 1855 of ? cholera. Only record I have is her marriage.
3. Jeremiah O Connor. born Cork, Ireland, ~ 1854, died in Detroit Michigan, 10 July 1918. Buried Mt Olivet cemetary in Detroit. 3 sons, Dennis, Jeremiah Jr, Hugh and daughter Lucy
4.Hanorah 'Nora' Sullivan, daughter of John, born ~ 1854, Cork, Ireland. Came to Detroit Michigan, "as a young woman", according to her obituary. died 9 Sept 1914, Detroit, Mi. Buried at Mt Olivet. Spouse of Jeremiah.
I have done DNA on ancestry, My Heritage, FTDNA and GEdmatch. My kits are AL8645737. FTDNA are B460161. I have one Sullivan/OLeary/Crowley match who says his Crowleys are from Eyeries. His Sullivan line is from Baruile, Clogeen,Allihies, Kerry.
Thanks for any thoughts, see you in September!!
