Looking for info on Maurice Crowley (married Catherine Hennessy) abt 1840. Had two sons we know of; Denis born abt1846 and Timothy born abt 1840. We know Maurice lived in Burrane in 1874 and again in the 1901 Census (with his son Timothy).
Timothy married a Donovan ? (Anne or Nancy) Children: Eugene, Denis, John, Anne & Margaret (all residing in Burrane 1901 census and 1911 census). John left for Philadelphia in 1921.
Denis married Mary Flynn in 1874 (all lived in Bandon). Children: Catherine (lived in Shannon house in bandon in the 1940's - unmarried) Eugene, Patrick, Steven & Denis. Eugene and Steven were national teachers in Bandon area. Denis married Ellen Mahoney in 1908 and left for Boston that year.
Thanks

Hi Tim,
Thank you for your message.
Did you know that Irish Genealogy have started a project whereby they are uploading church records to their websites free of charge? Only a small number of counties have been covered so far including the Catholic parishes in Cork that fall under the Diocese of Cork and Ross. Fortunately, Timoleague and Bandon belong to this diocese so you should be able to find church records relevant to the family at this site:
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/
Another useful websites is the Irish Times which gives you an overview of what Catholic records are available in specific parishes. For parishes in South West Cork follow this link:
http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/counties/rcmaps/corkswrc.htm
Have you tried looking in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century to see if there is any record of Maurice, or possibly his father? There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
Genealogy Links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/cork/index.html
Family Search: www.familysearch.org
Failte Romhat: www.failteromhat.com
I hope that some of this is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
Genealogy Support
