Hello,
I am searching on behalf of a very close friend of mine. Robert Daly and Margaret McCarthy came over from Ireland in 1887 to Philadelphia, PA and from their hometown of Cork in 1887. Outside of stories of early family life in Philadelphia we do not know much about where exactly they are from in County Cork (we were told Cork City in family tales) and if perhaps there are some Daly's/McCarthy's in Ireland today that are distantly related. Any advice from fellow seekers regarding how to approach this process would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Shane

Hello again Shane!
Robert Daly and Margaret McCarthy were married in 1893 in Philadelphia.
According to the 1920 census, they immigrated to America in different years 1887 for Robert and 1891 for Margaret.
Robert's death record from March 27, 1931 indicated that he was born March 12, 1869 and his parents were William Daly and Ann Newman. I searched for a civil birth record for Robert and the best record was a March 18, 1868 record in Ballynacourty Co. Waterford not far from Dungarvan https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1868/03437/2262014.pdf
The 1920 census showed that Robert and Margaret had five children living with them from age 20 down to age 2 Robert John Joseph Lawrence Margaret
Maragret McCarthy Daly died April 8, 1939. Date of birth was not shown but she was 67 and from County Cork. Father Dennis and mother Mary Ann.
Margaret McCarthy was a very common name. I saw three possible birth records: two in Blarney and one in Bandon.
Let me know what questions you have.
