Hello, I am trying to find information on my father's family. Michael Joseph Skelly was born in Claras, Cashel west in 1912. His father was Daniel Skelly, a tailor, married to Brigid Murray. My father and his sister Annie emigrated to Boston around 1930, and later went to NY. There was also a sister, Mary who married in Longford, and died young, leaving a husband and children in Claras. I do not know the name of her husband.
My grandmother, Brigid Murray died around 1915, and Daniel remarried, I believe to Kate Cavanaugh They had at least one child, Johnny also a tailor, who died aged 24. Daniel died in 1942 while my father was in Germany with the American army.
I am trying to find a marriage record for Mary Skelly, so I can trace her children. Any information on Daniel and Brigid (Bridget) also would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much!

  • Roger, thank you so much That is my aunt Mary Skelly. I was unable to find this record! This will really help me in my search. Maybe you can guide me to the right place to solve my other puzzle? My father's birth cert lists his mother's name as Margaret Murray. The 1911 census (the year before my father was born) lists Daniel's wife as Bridget Murray. I've searched all combinations of the names to find a marriage or death record for my grandmother Margaret/Bridget Murray I believe she died circa 1915. Can you give me any search tips? And thank you SO much for taking the time to post, I'm very appreciative!
