Hello.
Seeking any information on DAVID EDWARD HERNE ( also shown in Army Records as HARN, HORNE supposedly born Cork Ireland in 1842, father Michael ? Enlisted in the British Army at Westminster in the 77th regiment on the 17/2/1859 and then to the Isle of Wight. Then to India arriving January 1860.Then served in various places until March 1865 when promoted to Colour Sergeant. Discharged at Bareilly in September 1865. His papers were missing from the War Office and details taken from Musters. He was to remain in India where he married Elizabeth Grady ( widow of James Grady of the 88th Regiment -The Connaught Rangers) , David joined the East India Railways. He and Elizabeth had a large family. They were to stay in India until their deaths.

The surname could be Hearn or Ahearn. I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and also the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie and used Michael as the father. I was not sure from your message how sure you are that Michael was the father's given name.
The only record I could locate was actually in Ardfinnan RC parish in Co. Waterford Feburary 3 1840 father Michael Ahearn and mother Mary Cahill. Without other information e.g mother's maiden name, it may be difficult to determine if a baptismal record is available.
Civil registration of births did not begin until 1864.
