I thought I had found a family connection in Co Louth and had a DNA test done by the firm DDC it proved negative through the male line. I seem unable to use the result to post what could be the reason for this. Do I have to have a new test done to be able to post, my knowledge of how this works is minimal. My search is centred on Ireland as a starting point grandad left Irleand for Scotland and latterly England in November of 1894 allegedly aged 18.

Chris:
I'm not familiar with DDC but it appears that you had a Y-DNA test which tracks your pure male paternal line. Maybe you should have an autosomal test which looks at all of your paternal and maternal lines. All of the major DNA companies such as Ancestry, My Heritage Family Tree DNA etc. have this test. You will get matches and you can ten try to contact your closest matches and determine where the match lies.

Hi, Do you want us to look up some records for your grandfather in Louth? If yes, please give his name, date of birth if known, place of birth if known, parents if known, his children's names, his wife, occupation, etc.
