My mother's paternal grandparents game from Dunmore, Galway.  Edward Donnellon and Bridget Murray; both born in 1862.  I believe Bridget came from Tuam.  Edward's parents were James Donnellon and Mary Nestor.  Bridget's parents were Patrick Murray and Mary Ann O'Dwyer.  We are related to Jack Mahon through our Murray family line.  I believe his grandmother was Bridget's sister.  Edward & Bridget emigrated to the U.S. in 1880 and settled in Cincinnati, Ohio.  There are many descendents from this marriage (my mother's parents had nearly 60 grandchildren!).

  • Hi thank you for posting this message on Ireland Reaching Out and sharing this information!

Do you have any particular query regarding your family's history, or is this a mesage to share information?

    Kind regards,

  • With one purpose of the site being to reconnect with emigrants descendents, I thought I'd post what we know of our ancestors who came to the States.  Various cousins are working on the family tree, so we're always hoping to extend the branches, so I posted this with the details we know, so others might find it and to connect.  I know some of the family remained in Ireland on my Murray line as Fr. Paddy Mahone visted our family in Cincinnati in the 1960's.  His brother was a rather well known footballer there in Galway.

    Thanks.

  • I would like to get more info if I could please.  I believe I am a great great granddaughter of Edward and Bridget.  Their daughter Elizabeth is my paternal grandma's mother.  My Grandmother passed away in 2001 and we were all estranged since the early 80's. I keep running into dead ends trying to get info on both sides of my fathers family. I was so glad to see your posts.  Thank you!

  • Kathi,

We are related through your McKenna line.  I actually sent you a private message on Facebook back in October.  Check your "Other" folder under messages and you'll likely see it there.  I've also created a Facebook page for the Donnellon & Murray families from Dunmore which you can find at https://www.facebook.com/groups/250458535102082/ . I have some old family photos there that other cousins have provided, including one with Edward & Bridget, all their kids and their spouses and whatever grandchildren would have been born already at that time (1921), so your grandmother is in the picture (only one of the McKenna kids at that point, I think).

My grandfather Andrew Donnellon was Elizabeth's brother.

    Merry Christmas, cousin!

    Joe
