Been searching records from Canada...visited SW Cork in 2017. Still trying to place the parish (could have been Methodist religion) where my ancestor PETER DUCKLOW left from. His wife was REPORTED to be Mary ConnelL, reported to have died on the voyage to Canada or back in Ireland before the family sailed approximately 1828-1831. They landed at Quebec City. A death notice in records in Province of Quebec shows that a child named "Grace Ducklow" was buried in 1832 and the father is "Peter" the mother was ELIZA.. I believe because of the early date of this burial, that this Peter is my ancestor and this Eliza is a second wife that we have no record for (The youngest surviving child of Peter is named Elizabeth). The earliest census record I have in Canada is an agricultural record for 1848 in Ontario Canada showing a large farming family but no indication of names, except that a son also named Peter had property. By 1851 the family has moved to another part of Ontario and Peter Senior is a widower, but he is a married daughter.. I've traced the children on further census, and his oldest son is a Michael Dukelow who was born Sept 26, 1815 in Skibbereen. I would dearly love to hear from anyone who can find a baptism or birth record for Michael in or around Skibbereen. The family was Protestant, with Dukelow being a Hugenot surname. Many Dukelow buried in St. James Church in Durrus. I checked the burial stones at The Altar, near Toomore, no luck. There is a small townland area called Ardravinney which I believe may have been Peter's home base. A Connell family lives nearby and run an excellent B & B! If anyone has ability to find one of the birth records (Church of Ireland or Methodist) for Michael Dukelow in 1815, his siblings, M. Sarah birth unknown, Charles 1816, Peter Jr. 1817, James 1818, Catherine/Kitty 1821, John 1821, Margaret 1822, Elizabeth 1824, Grace 1828...all approximate except for Michael's date. Thank you for reading. I live in hope yet!

My ancestors from Cork are Jeremiah Moore and Martha Morgan. My father, Edwin R. Moore, has 2 Y-DNA matches to Leigh Moore and his cousin Tom Moore, who descend from John Moore and Martha Skuce, and had several children born in Kilgarriff Parish, Clonakilty.. Their families were also Methodists. The 2 families have many autosomal DNA matches to other Methodists in SW County Cork. Most of these matches are predicted to be closer than our trees would allow, because of the intermarriages over hundreds of years to each other. Dukelow surnames are in the trees of these matches. However, I do not see Peter or Michael. Good luck.
If you have tested, the results for Edwing R. Moore are at FTDNA , Living DNA, and GEDmatch (T3458988).

Thank you Joyce Hodges for your response. I've just printed off your reply, and I will search out your Edwing R. Moore (Edwin?) at FTDNA, where I also have my DNA and my tree. My tree is not on Ancestry, but I also had DNA tested later by Ancestry. I believe my Dukelow emigrants from Ireland, may have come from the Goleen area, but its just really a guess. I'll let you know if I can find anything on the Moore tree which may be a clue for me. Best regards, April Bell in British Columbia, Canada.
