I know my fourth great grandfather Henry O'Hara was born in Ireland about 1725. A source has stated that his father was born in Trabszon Turkey in the early 1700's. My DNA only shows Irish and English and Swiss (my father's mother) heritage and so I have to believe that if the Trabazon story is correct, then his mother must have accompanied his father there. This could be the case if his father had been an officer in the British army stationed there or if he was possibly a merchant, since Trabazon is one of the first ports available to the caravan routes. His father may have escaped Cromwell's Ireland by going to Turkey??? Please help with any information or sources of records to be checked.

Unfortunately, there are no records back to the early 1700s that we can check for your O'Hara ancestors. If you have not done so already, I would contact your closest DNA matchs on Ancestry and see if they have O'Hara connections. Possibly a match will give you new information about your O'Haras.

Please take a Y Dna test on FTDNA. It could be very helpful.
