I am looking for parents of Patrick Egan 1816.  I believe from Roscommon. He had a sister Bridget Egan 1813.

  • Alice:

Only six of the thirty-two RC parishes in Co. Roscommon have records back to 1816 or earlier. So there is a high probability that Patrick and Bridget could have been baptized in a parish which no longer has records available in the time period of interest.

Egan was a common surname in Co. Roscommon so despite only a few parishes having records, the subscription site Roots Ireland has four Patrick Egan baptismal records in 1816 plus others in 1813 1817 1818. There are Bridget Egan baptismal records in 1811 1812 1814.

Have you considered DNA testing where you might have matches with people who also have Egan connections?

  • Alice,

Information about birth, parents, place of origin, etc., can often be found in other records. Did Patrick emigrate? To where? When? Who did he marry and when? What were his children's names? His occupation, his religion? When did he die? Where?

Any additional information you have would be helpful. Thanks.

    Patricia
