This Scrahan (Sranaviddooge) is a townland south of Newcestown.
I've had very limited success finding her relatives. Is anyone familiar with this family? Thomas Hallinane ( not Hallahane) was a sponsor on Mary, her son's baptism c.1863

Dan,
The free site irishgenealogy.ie under the church records tab has the following information:
Marriage - Denis Leary & Ellen Hallahane, 16 Feb 1858, RC parish of Murragh & Templemartin, witnesses: Thomas Allen (witness for husband) & Timothy Lyons (witness for wife)
Birth of daughter - Johanna Leary, 9 Mar 1861, address - Scrahan, parents- Denis Leary & Ellen Hallihane, sponsors - Daniel Leary & Catherine Hallihane

Thank you Carolyn for that great work. I now realise that I should have been more specific and said ancestors not relatives. So sorry.
It's Ellen Hallahane's ancestors I've been short of finding.

Dan,
I found a birth record for Ellen Hallahan on 26 Jul 1835 in the RC parish of Murragh & Templemartin. Parents - John Hallahan & Mary Murphy. Sponsors - Michael Casey & Julia Deasey. This might be your Ellen as the age and parish work. I looked for parents of Thomas Hallinane & Catherine Hallihane, the baptism sponsors of Johanna (1861) and Mary (1863), but did not find any who matched with Ellen. However, the baptism records for Murragh & Templemartin began in 1864, so IF these are older siblings to Ellen, then you will not find a record for their baptisms to try to match the parents of Ellen. I would not get too concerned about the variation of spellings for the surname as the records are often difficult to read, and they get transcribed incorrectly all the time.
Regards,
Carolyn
