Ellen Towey

Hello All, 

I am on what i can only decribe as a family mystry and i am trying to solove it! 

So my Grandma (Mary Towey) was born in Brighton in 1934, Her Mother, was known as Ellen Towey. We understand that Ellen came over from Ireland to the Liverpool/ Manchester area and then made her way to Brighton. Where she stayed with Caroline and Alfred Charles Murphy in Cannon Street Brighton. Although we are not sure why or when this happened. 

After this, my Great Mother Ellen left the child Mary Towey with the Murphy who raised her, and my grandmother never remembers her mother. We know that Ellen was sending money to the family to take care of my grandmother Mary, but this stopped arounf 1935/6. We think that she might have moved to the US, but i am struggling to find anmy records.
