I would like to contact one of your volunteers, Elwyn who did some work for me some years ago. I have lost some of the information he found for me.

  • Thank you for your response Elwyn. I am from New Zealand and about 2015 you found a Hampton indenture made 10 June 1848, over land in Drumard Primate. Unfortunately it got lost in a big computer disaster and I was wondering if you still had a copy. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to use the irelandxo email addresses.

  • Mary,

I have no recollection of your enquiry and I haven’t kept any record of our conversation but I may be able to help all the same.  PRONI in Belfast has a lease with the date you mention (10.6.1848) relating to Drumard (Primate):

    T577/108

David Hampton, Sen. & Junr. 1st pt Joseph Lynas, Sen. & Jun. 2nd pt all of Drumard Primate, Co. Armagh Frederick Ruddell, Ballinacor, Co. Armagh 3rd pt
    Mortgage of 16 ac.
    Considn. £250
    Drumard Primate, Co. Armagh

    I can also see:

    T577/81

    26th August 1841

David & Frances Hampton Drumard Private, Co. Armagh 1st pt Benjamin & Elizabeth Hampton Lurgancott, Co. Armagh 2nd pt David Hampton, Jnr. & Elizabeth do. Jnr. 3rd pt John Greer & Patrick McCann, Lurgancott, Co.Armagh 4th pt
Articles concluded prior to marriage of 3rd parties

    T577/171

    21.9.1861

David HamptonDrumard Primate, Co. Armagh and Frederick Ruddell, Clanrolla, Co. Armagh
Second mortgage relating to Drumard Primate, Co. Armagh. (For First, see No. 108)
    Considn. £50.

    T577/178

    10.8.1863

David Hampton, 1st pt Eliza & Hugh Hampton 2nd pt all of Drumard Primate, Co. Armagh Frederick Ruddell, Clanrolla, Co. Armagh Edward Dick, Grange ONeiland, Co. Armagh 3rd pt
Mortgage of lands at Drumard Primate, Co. Armagh. (See also Nos. 108 and 171)
    Considn. £125

The above documents might be on-line in the Irish Register of Deeds section of the LDS site. But if not, PRONI evidently hold paper copies of the documents, probably from estate records.
