I am researching my 2 x Great Grandfather and need to confirm a link I have found.
My Great Grandfather, John Evans was born in 1851 at Monaghan and Married Anne Connolly in January 1881, they left for Liverpool shortly after getting married.
On their marriage certificate he lived in Clonlonan and his father, also called John, was a farmer who was described as dead!
Looking back through the Irishgealogy.ie website, the only John Evans I can see that would match died in 1879.
His death was witnessed by George Evans, I presume his son.
I can find a Griffiths valuation for 1861 for John Evans at Clonlonan, and a Census record for 1901 and 1911 for George at Tehallan Clonlonan.
What I can't find are any birth/baptism records for John Evans (1851) or George (1853) or a marriage certificate for John Evans (2x GG) and his wife.
If I can prove I have the correct John Evans (died 1879) and link his wife with John and George I can move on a stage.
If I do have the correct George I have a list of his family from the 1901 and 1911 census.

What was the religious denomination for the family? It would appear to be RC from the 1901 census record you located and I located a possible baptismal record for George below. (I know you have 1853 in your note) but the record below was the only George Evans record in Tehallan RC. I also located the 1879 civil marriage record for George (father John) and Ellen Kelly.

You mention John Jr. was born in 1851. Do you have the baptismal record? Roots does not have a record in Tehallan in 1851 but two records in 1853.

Thank you for your reply.In answer to your questions, the family was RC which carried on with John Jr when they moved to Liverpool, most are buried in Ford Cemetary which is a big RC cemetary in Liverpool.
John Jr, I have not found a baptismal record for him, all the census ages suggest he was born in 1851, but the cemetary record suggests he was born 1854? Unless I have the wrong person but I'm 95% certain I'm correct.
After your suggestion for a mother of Anne Gildernew, I did find a marriage for Anna Gildernew and Joannis Evans 22 Nov 1840 with a residence place Mac Curane and a marriage place Tyholland, Monaghan.
I have the marriage record for George in 1879 and based on his age of 27 makes his birth about 1852, which does not fit with your find below.
The records for John (father) and George are only educated guesses based on location. One slight worry I have is John (father) died in January 1879 and George married in June 1879 but the record does not say his father was deceased?
I really need to find a baptism record for John Jr to confirm the mothers name.
