I saw the offer of 50% off the complete My Heritage membership. My sub was due for renewal on 6 March 2022. I had pre-cancelled before the cut off date. To stay a returning customer they offered me an online 15% off a year's Australian membership of $349 plus GST. That would bring it back to $296.55 plus GST. I attempted to use the Ireland XO 50% off offer but as an existing customer, I was not eligible. That is usually the same with Ancestry as well so I always stop payment before and then wait to find a better deal. They give new customers incentives and forget about the ones that have been around for AGES.
Amazingly, I received a call from My Heritage in NZ. It was the same girl who gave me a great deal 12 months ago! I told of the Ireland XO 50% off offer but as an existing customer was ineligible. I also explained I leave ancestry and wait for a better deal. In her words, I would remain an expired customer and not a new customer so that would not apply.
The long and the short of it was she diverted to her BOSS and I got the My Heritage deal at 50% off. $174 + GST = $191. It is always worth trying to get a better deal. And Ireland XO - I loved your offer it just worked in a different way for me with the same result.

Karen was very lucky! Two years or so ago I took up a 50% off offer from My Heritage. I found a lot of the results and suggestions unreliable as they would simply offer suggestions that came from other subscribers trees. When I researched these links I found that most of them were unsourced and simply taken from other trees. I never use information without sources. One suggestion that was made was regarding a "suggested relative" who with very little research showed that by the age of 4 years he had had 3 children. Totally ridiculous and clearly the wrong person.
The main issue I had with My Heritage was that on the very same day that my 50% discount offer ran out they sent me an email advising that they had deducted some $400 form my credit card. I had not authorized this deduction. They had given me no prior advice. It took 2 weeks to get a response. Their phones did not answer. Emails were not replied to. I wrote to a US address and eventually got a reply from Israel. They basically said that I should read the fine print. It was only when I said that I would lodge a legal claim against them for fraud and complain to the Office of Fair Trading that they refunded the money.
There are thousands of complaints about this company online. See au.trustpilot.com/review/www.myheritage.com
Of 24,567 total reviews 7,860 were terrible.
Another Australian major review site "Product Review" 82 out of 98 reviews were one star. All complaints related to poor service and illegally deducting payments.
I would be very careful about signing up to this company as in the view of a great number of people they are scammers.
