Family of William & Frances Howard (formerly O'Toole)

Hi Alan,

I checked rootsireland for the births and marriage of William and Frances but had no luck.

On ancestry the 1901 English Census has them aged 60 with children William 25 and Richard living in Hackney.

The place of birth of both is Belford Ireland but Belford is in Northumberland not Ireland.

ancestry has their marriage 1st december 1866 Dalston St Philip Hackney; fathers are James Howard and Mathew Humbley - she was Frances Naria Humbley

Thanks for that Col but I think you have the wrong family. Just to confuse matters, I remembered today that my father said that the Howards were originally O'Tooles and that they changed their name to avoid some unspecified trouble.

Margaret Howard was my Great Great Grandmother. I have searched for Wiliam &Frances O'Toole but have found nothing so far.

Hi Alan,

I scoured rootsireland and ancestry but had no luck!

The only glimmer was that several public member trees on ancestry had frances as Frances Little, Unfortunately that didn't bring any better results.

Given that the births are all Dublin before England, maybe try the Dublin message board on this site.

Howard O'Toole.

My wife's grandmother was Margaret Mary Enness (nee Howard)

Born 1887 Balls Pond Road, Islington. London. Her father was Christopher Stephen Howard born 1866 Plunkett St. Dublin. Mother Agness Caroline Howard ne James.

Christopher migrated to Shoreditch, London in 1871 with his parents. He became a Tailor like his father

Christopher's father was Laurence William Christopher Howard O'Toole born 1842 Dublin..a tailor.

Margaret married a John William Enness in 1910 at Hackney (London) Register Office.

I am trying to find out more about Margaret and her family. She died 1953 in the German Hospital Hackney. London.

My wife Janet or the extended family have no photograph of Margaret and are desperate to locate one at any age.
