I have just established that Farra Agriculture School was/is in Bunbrosna, Westmeath...according to Wikipedia.

I have a copy of my 2x Grandfather (Robert David Dagg) certificate of completion of being at the school for 2 years finishing in 1849.

For some reason I didn't think that the school was in Ireland.  Don't know how I came to that conclusion!!

My 2x Grandfather married my 2x Grandmother (Lucinda Cathrine Wilson) in October 1849, the same year in Portnashangan.

According to "Wikipedia" it states that Farra Agriculture School was funded by Rev William Wilson's will and the school opened in 1743.

I have been searching for some time now as to my 2x Grandmothers Wilson family side with nothing to go on.

Is there any information about that Wilson family as I would love to have a break through especially if it is a connection of 2x Grandmother.  Lucindas fathers name is Henry Wilson which is on her marriage certificate.

Henry's name is also on Valuation of Tenements in the Parish of Portnashangan , townland of Ballynagall and wondering could this be the same person.

Hope you can help.

It must be the same person. Ballynagall was shown as the place of residence for Lucinda on the 1849 marriage record and Henry was shown as leasing land in Ballynagall in the 1854 Griffiths which you mentioned in your note.

There were no other Henry Wilsons in the 1854 Griffiths for Co. Westmeath.

  • I have since found a Canada census 1871 with their names listed at an address in Ontario.

Maria came to New Zealand after that date as she was now a widow and came to live with her sister who had emigrated at a similar time as she went to Canada about 1856.

Would love to know where Henry and Catherine are buried.
