I am searching for relations from the area. Michael Feeney migrated to Boston in or around 1850. He landed in Portland, Maine. We have a record of his citizenship.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your message.

Do you have any other information on the family that you can share?

Do you know the names of Michael's parents, or any siblings that he may have had that remained in Ireland? Perhaps you could check the 1901 and 1911 census records to see if there were any relatives still living in the area at the time. You can do this here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

It may also be an idea to put your message in a local newspaper/newsletter to increase the chances that someone will see it and make a connection. Some possible places you could do this are:

    The Galway Advertiser: http://www.advertiser.ie/galway

    The Connaught Tribune: http://www.galwaynews.ie/connachttribune

Alternatively you could try contacting the Galway Family History Society West centre however a fee may apply. Here are the contact details:

Galway Family History Society West Ltd.,

    Ashe Road,

    St. Joseph's Community Centre,

    Shantalla,

    Co. Galway.

    Phone: +353 91 860 464       Email: galwaywestroots@eircom.net

I hope that this is helpful. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

    Kind regards,
