My Great grandfather Patrick Fennell emigrated from Ireland to USA about 1853 with his children William, Mary, James and

Michael (my grandfather age about 6 years), they are supposed to be from county Tipperary, but I can find no sign of them

there. Patrick was married to Sarah McCormick and she was mother of the 4 children but I don't know if she left Ireland with

them as I could find no records of her in America, there are a lot records of rest of family in this country, Is there any way

I could find more infomation on my family in Ireland. I'm not even positive they are from Tipperary, as I said I could find

no info. on them there, but another site says they are  from there but that's it no other info.

Any help appreciated, thanks Hank Fennell.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and located three baptismal records for children of Patrick Fennell and Sarah McCormick. See below. I did not find a marriage record. Here is a link to the parish register and see if you can find records for William and Michael. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0239

Looks like the family lived in Roran townland in Templeachally civil parish (this is the closest townland name using the spellings on the Roots Ireland records)

  • Roger, Thank you very much I have been trying for years looking for Fennell family roots in Ireland think you gave them to me, still have to look for my grandfather in Irelant now I have a

starting point. I did not even know of a fifth child (Catherine) in family, there is a US census where I found Michael and Catherine living with Patrick, I had assumed Catherine

was probably his second wife now realize it was probably his daughter (and my great aunt) by the way I also assumed that Patrick and Sarah were married maybe I assume too much.

Think it was you that also confirmed my suspicion that mothers ancestors came from an area of County Sligo that was later changed to County Mayo when border was altered,

believe they were married in St. Muredach Church (Think it was in Parish Kilmoremoy/bal) there names Mary Callaghan and Anthony Naghten (later Nocton) would these names

have a similar pronunciation? Think it got changed by accident. Once again I thank you so much and apologize if this was too long.  Hank Fennell
