I know that Bridget (b.1827) and Thomas (b. 1817) were born and married in Ireland. Three (Patrick, William, Anna) or four (Delia) children were born there also before they emigrated to Rockland Co. New York in 1858.  I think their parish was St. Nicholas but I never found the records while I visited in 2009. Can anyone help?

  • Hi there,

St. Nicholas is divided into 5 areas. Did you contact the National Library of Ireland for the baptismal and marriage records? The call number for St. Nicholas is Pos.2436  and 2437. The Church of Latter Day Saints call number is 0926070. The Galway Family History Society West should also be able to help you.

Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi WelshB

This reply may be going to Sinead Cooney because I am new to blogs or whatever this is and cannot find a way to reply to WelshB with certainty. Why do programmers live in a differnet world from ordinary people?

Anyways, I hope it will post on the same thread.

First is Larkin the last name of Bridget or her married name?

My link to Ireland is a crossing by John Larkin in 1825. There may be a link to your Bridget Larkin since Bridget, Patrick, and William are very common names in our ancestry (and current family).

I do not know where John Larkin came from, but Galway is a possibility.

Perhaps if we share more information we will find a link?
