Searching for FINN ancestry in Peterswell, Gort, Co. Galway, Ireland. I recently learned from a cousin that his Dad said "...our old people came from Peterswell/Gort". In the ruins at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Aughrim is a FINN plot that contains six graves.
Edmund/Edward FINN buried 1776
Lawrence FINN (1757-1826) and wife Mary Keighry (d. 1812)
John FINN buried 1840
Lawrence FINN (1815-1874) immigrated to America.
Dennis FINN (1840- ) married Julia Quirke
Dennis FINN (1880-1962) married Jane Kelly 1903
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has knowledge of a FINN family living in Peterswell, Gort, Co. Galway, Ireland in the mid 1700s to early 1800s.
Regards, Kay

Dear Kay: I just joined the Irish group and am not very familiar with it yet. I saw your post in 2012 and am interested in the Lawrence Finn in your St. Catherine's that you listed as immigrated to America. Do you have any additional informaiton on him? I have A John Finn 1790 Aughrim Co Galway Irealnd - 1841 Franklin, Sinpson County Kentucky USA he came to USA 1800-1816 his brother Lawrence Finn 1801Aughrim Co Galway Ireland - 1881 Nashville Davidson County Tennessee USA. The brith place is on both of their tombstones. I have information that says their parents were Lawrence Finn born Aughrim Co Galway Ireland 1760 and died 1828 not sure where. He married Mary Highay about 1790 she was born 1762. Any helop you have I would appreciate.

Hello Bob Law,
I have just found your reply to an old message of mine on ... http://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/message-board/finn-family-peterswel…. I apologize for not replying sooner.
Could it be possible that your Mary Highay actually be my Mary Keighry (d. 1812)?
Most of my FINN information and photos of cemetery in Aughrim are on FIND A GRAVE at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=102710775
Let me know if you think this is a possibility.
