I have been searching the Flahives in the Tiduff area (Kerryhead).  I know that my Ellen Flahive and her brother Maurice had a father named John and mother Catherine.  Searching in Causeway church records does not give their baptisms.  But there is a John Flahive in Tiduff in 1852 (Griffith's Valuation) and that would be just right for Ellen born in 1848 and Maurice born in 1852.  It appears to me that John and Catherine had a son Edward who married an Ellen Harnett in 1861 and the grandparents John and Catherine sponsored the baptism of Patrick, one of the twins of Edward and Ellen later in 1861.  Grandparents from the other side sponsored the baptism of the other twin.  But Catherine must have died between 1861 and 1864 because we find John Flahive marrying a Johanna Hussy in 1864 (with Edward Flahive) as a sponsor.  John and Johanna lived many more years as they were in the 1901 and 1911 censuses of Tiduff.

I need to confirm that John did marry a Catherine and that they had a son Edward.  And then I need to confirm that Catherine died in the early 1860's.

I descend from Ellen Flahive who came to the U. S. in 1869 and her brother Maurice came in about 1881.  Church records in Causeway indicate that the Flahives knew the Crosbies and that they even intermarried on some occasions.

Thanks, I would appreciate your help,

You may want to check out www.irishgenealogy.ie which is an Irish government site which has a good number of Co. Kerry baptismal and marriage records. I found this 1847 baptism for an Ellen Flahive in Causeway. Although the father is John, the mother is shown as Ellen Sheahan. Don't know if this is your Ellen or another person.
