I am a bit confused when I look at a map of Ireland.  I knew of Newport in County Mayo and it  was suggested to me that's where I search but  I recently found Newport, in County Tipperary on a map.

Martin Flynn & his wife Mary King came to Canada prior to 1841.  A gravestone here in Canada indicates they were natives of Newport, Tipperary Ireland.  Martin was born about 1799, Mary  about 1805.

It appears I may have been looking in the wrong area however I did find Flynns there.  Any info would be appreciated.

The records for Newport RC parish Co. Tipperary go back to 1795 https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0246 and are available on the subscription site Roots Ireland. I did some searches for the baptismal records for Martin and Mary as well as their marriage record and any possible baptismal records for children but did not find any records. Possibly they attended a nearby parish which does not have records back to the 1820s and earlier. Immigrants frequently indicated they were from the nearest "big town" rather than their small townland.

You may want to consider a DNA test possibly you will match with 3rd or 4th cousins who might have more information on the origins of the family in Ireland.
