UPDATE: A friend and I will be visiting Ireland in late May. We start in Dublin and will be near Wexford and Waterford around May 27 and 28. Any suggestions for where to look up any info on Fortunes who would have left for Newfoundland in early 1800s, or Fortune families in the Slade Wexford area in that time period?
I have an ancestor named Patrick Fortune whose RC marriage record in Newfoundland said he was from Slade, Co. Wexford. He married Mary Shaugnessy in 1827 in a small fishing village along the Southern Shore of Newfoundland (an area known as the Irish Loop). He was likely a brother or close cousin of my 3x great grandfather Edward Fortune born c1790. I have no records to indicate whether Edward was born in Ireland or Newfoundland. Edward married Judith Driscoll, not sure where or exactly when.
Any assistance would be gratefully accepted. I am trying to confirm Patrick’s relationship to Edward and find out any other information relevant to the family history that might be available.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Slade is in Hook civil parish. Here is a link to Slade Castle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slade_Castle The RC parish would be St. james and Templetown and records go back to the late 1700s. Here is a link to the parish register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0608 I searched on two different data bases and did not see any records for Edward or Patrick except for this 1795 baptismal record for a Patrick Fortune.

We have another volunteer who is much more knowledgable about Co. Wexford and I will alert him to your message.

I had never heard of a place called the Irish Loop in Ireland - I believe it's in Newfoundland. (your post mentions the 1827 Newfoundland marriage, and on "Southern Shore of Ireland" ...area known as the Irish Loop.)
I know the village of Slade quite well and visit the area several times a year, it's part of a nice walk you can do around the tip of Hook Head passing the Lighthouse on the way.
I've come across a number of connections between Slade and the Hook Head area and Newfoundland and Camada many seem to be connected with fishing. Fortune is a real 'Wexford' surname.
I'm assuming your Fortunes were Catholic - is this correct ?
I double checked for any record of a 1827 marriage of Patrick to Mary Shaugnessy but no sign that I could see... the marriage records for St. James & Templetown look complete for 1827, although a little difficult to read. There are various Fortune records in the Slade & Hook area but I didn't come across any Shaugnessy baptisms or marriages in the registers.
As Roger mentioned the St. James & Templetown registers go back to 1792, so not quite far enough to include any record of Edward. There are quite a few Fortune records in the St. James & Templetown baptisms records right back to a Patrick Fortune baptised in 1795. Do you have an estimated year of birth for this Patrick Fortune - maybe from a Canadian census or his death record ?

Oh goodness, I meant the Southern Shore of Newfoundland, called the Irish Loop, sorry. I have the record for marriage of Patrick Fortune to Mary Shaugness iin 1827 in Newfoundland. It is in that record that Patrick is said to come from Slade, Ireland. As Patrick married in 1827 he was likely born somewhere between 1795 and 1805, so Patricium could be him....
Yes they were RC and therefore not allowed to practice (or keep records) until around 1784, so unlikely I would find records about Edward there, I am not certain therefore whether he was born in Ireland or Newfoundland.
Thanks so much for your responses, and sorry about my typo in my original post.
