My grandfather’s grandfather was James Gervé Conroy. His mother was Sarah Garvey, who married Luke Malachi Conry, M.L., and her sister Anne Garvey married Owen O’Beirne, and had by him Cecilia O’Beirne, mother of Stiofán Bairéad, of whom a translation of his Irish-language biography was just posted in this parish. They had a brother, who became a medical doctor, in Westport, and a third sister, who married a Mr. Greene.
Their father, James Garvey, Esq., was from Kilmore, and given that Luke Malachi Conry (said in the Irish Law Times and Solicitor’s Journal to be from Clonskea, in the county of Roscommon, which I believe to be in error for Cloonahee, near where he worked as director of the Strokestown Classical Academy, he was born at Runnacocka/Lisaphillip West in Kilmacumsy) and Sarah Garvey married, it was at Aughrim in Kilmore.
Anybody know anything of Garveys in Kilmore ? James Garvey, Esq., great-grandfather of Stiofán Bairéad and of my great-grandfather Charles O’Neill Conroy, would likely have been born sometime about 1780-1790. Luke Malachi Conry (baptised at Elphin but the record shows Conty) who married Sarah was born in 1811 in any event.

Dear O'Maoilchonaire:
Thank you for this informative query about the Garvey family of Kilmore. There are several Roscommon volunteers (Parish Liaisons and researchers) who might be interested in this. I will forward to them for their reference.
Kind regards,
Jane.
