Hello.....
I am trying to obtain information on either the birth of my 2nd great grandparents which would have been around 1825 or their marriage, which would have been around 1845. Their names were Mary Hennessy (of Ballymacmoy House) and John Sullivan.
They were both residents of Cork County. I was told by my grandparents Mary was a decendant of the Hennessy Cognac family. My grandfather, John Joseph was her grandson.
I have read the history on line about the Hennessy family but cannot find any information about the birth or marriage of Mary and John.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Judi Tracy

Hi Judi,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you and helps you with your research
Have you tried looking in church records in Annakissey parish for birth or marriage records? Catholic records in the parish start as early as 1805:
Most Catholic records ares still held locally so it may be an idea to contact the local parish priest for some assistance. Alternatively, you could contact Mallow Heritage Centre as they have copies available. However a fee may apply. Here is their email: mallowheritagecentre@gmail.com
You could also try searching online at:
www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.
Some other more general websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
