My great great grandfather Patrick carroll and his wife Bridget carroll came to glasgow scotland with their children Patrick, Peter,Mary, Ann and Bridget. around 1870. A son Thomas was born in Glasgow in 1870 or 1871. In the census of 1891 they were staying at 8 BalmoreStreet in the parish of Maryhill in the Partick district of Glasgow. Bridget was by then head of the family as her husband had died the date of which I am unable to establish. In the marriage certificate of his son Patrick my great grandfather in 1884 he was listed as a bricklayers labourer although he was deceasedby then. Patrick married Ellen Holmes at St. Andrews Church on Clyde Street Glasgow, he was 24 and Ellen was 21. They had a child born in 1879, my grandfather also Patrick Carroll. He moved to Dundee Scotland in1898 and married Mary Ann Flood in St. Marys Chapel in Lochee Dundee and stayed in a part of Lochee known as Tipperary owing to the number of Irish staying there. I am interested to know what happened to the Glasgow members of my family and which part or Ireland either Patrick or Bridget came from. Any help would be much appreciated. One other piece of information that might help is that my granfathers brother or nephew Tony Carroll playedfor Belfast Celtic in the 1920's or 30's. Thanks Joe Carroll

You may want to check out www.familysearch.org for birth/baptism index records. Civil registration started in Ireland in 1864. I assumed that Bridget was the youngest child born in Ireland based on your message. I looked for birth/baptism index records for a Bridget Carroll born 1864-1870 with a father Patrick Carroll and a mother named Bridget.

There was a Bridget Carroll born May 18, 1867 in Naas and Carragh Co. Kildare to Patrick Carroll and Bridget Ennis. There was also a Bridget Carroll born to a Patrick Carroll and a Bridget Conors on August 3, 1867 in Kilpatrick Co. Tipperary. Two leads to check out.
