I'm trying to trace the Guinane family from Lakyle, Meelick. There is a Michael Gennane in the title applotments in the 1820s and later a William Gennane is listed as marrying a Mary Hickey in 1828. They do not have any offspring listed in baptisms for Parteen-Meelick though I suspect they had a son Martin who predated 1831 when records began. They were definitely gone out of it by the time of the Griffiths Valuation and later census of 1901 and 1911. However they did live in Lakyle. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Mary:
Many thanks for your query to the message board.
You will probably need to look at both Counties Clare and Limerick as Parteen was on the border of both counties.
The Clare Library website has the following civil parish records available on this link:
http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/st_patricks.htm
You will note that St Patrick's is the civil parish for Parteen. You might also check the surrounding parishes including Limerick City for parish registers.
The adjoining Clare parishes to St. Patrick;s are O'Briensbridge and Killokennedy. Both links below will give you parish registers to view:

The Limerick City registers that might be of use to you would be on the National Library of Ireland website. The parish of St. Mary's might be worth looking at.

If you would like to add further information about any of the Guinane family please do so on this thread. You can also add information via the XOChronicles link which is located at the top of this page. You can add an Ancestor profile for any of the family (or all of them) if you like.
Any questions, please let me know.
All the best,
Jane
