I am a descendant of Daniel Hallissey who came to Australia sometime in the late 1870's. The only record I have of him is a baptism certificate showing he was baptised on 4th August 1848 at Inniscarra, Co. Cork. His Father was John Hallisy and his Mother was Margaret Byrne. They were married 25/2/1838 at Coachford Co.Cork.I would appreciate any information on this family and particularly Daniel.Thankyou.

Carmel:
On the subscription site Roots Ireland I located baptismal records for seven siblings of Daniel at Inniscarra RC church. See below. Almost all the records showed Burns as the surname for Margaret.
The 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Inniscarra civil parish showed a John Hallisey in Carhue townland. I suspect that is Daniel's father.

See fifth record for 1880 death of Margaret Hallissy. Margaret Healy was the informant possibly her daughter.

I did not see a likely death record for John Hallissy.

Hi Roger:
Thankyou so much for your reply.I was excited to receive information from you on Daniel's Family.
I didn't know that he had so many Siblings. I had heard that he had a brother who had gone to America and of course he came to Australia. No knowledge of the other siblings.
I also don't know how he came to Australia? I have searched Australian records for assisted and unassisted migrants etc, convict transportation finished by 1853, except for the Fenians. Have you any suggestions on how to find out in Irish Records. I have printed off Margaret Hallissy, deat
Thanks again,much appreciated.
Carmel.

There is very little info on people leaving Ireland in the 19th century.

Hi Roger, Thank you for getting back to me. I guess what we have to accept when we get into our Family History, is that there is some information we will never be able to get. We are so used to the computer age with instant results.
regards Carmel.
