Are you sure the Hallorans were not from Co. Sligo? These names appear in Griffith’s Valuation (mid-1800s) for Sligo:

It could have been. This is the entry I found:

Catholic Parish Register at NLI, Microfilm 04231/04 Parish of Kilmoremoy, County of Mayo / Sligo, Diocese of Killala, Baptisms 01 May 1823 to 14 OCT 1836. Entry of birth for Winfred Halloran #10566 Born: 01 May 1835 Christened: 06 May 1835: Father Domnick Halloran Mother: Bridget McNalty.

As stated I am really unsure of the geography and place names. Since it is Mayo / Sligo, I would go with Sligo. Thanks for the assistance.

Are Griffith’s Valuation (mid-1800s) for Sligo the tax records or probate?

The reference to Mayo might be for the Carroll side. As I do more research I find some of the family oral history is off. Same as the Carroll spelling statement.

As some families travelled together, the Argo out of Liverpool, arrived 1851-12-31 in New Orleans with other Hallorans. Besides Winny (Winfred) Halloran 15YO, was Honora (18), Judy (18) and Thomas (21). Thomas I am pretty sure he, Thomas, is related becuase he shows up with in a birth in Lexington and Winfred is a sponsor.

One interesting note is I just received this from the Sisters of Charity:

Sister Mary Andrea Carroll was born Winifred Carroll on 12/21/1862 in Lexington, Missouri.  Her parents were Patrick Carroll and Winifred Halleron-Carroll.  She entered the Community 1/04/1890, took temporary vows 3/19/1892, and took final vows 7/1/1915.  She taught at Sacred Heart School, Topeka, KS. And St. Mary’s School, Butte, MT.  She passed away 3/19/1926 of Influenza in Providence Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas and was buried in the cemetery at the Mother House in Leavenworth.

To add more to the mix I found this today. Domnick could also go by Dennis Halloran. Bridget is pretty steady in the use of her name.

It forms the McNalty (McEnalty) relation. (Why the "E"?) I highlighted the old map but it looks to be a parking lot now on Google maps. Too bad.

Apparently Kilmoremoy Civil Parish is primarely in Tirawley Barony, County Mayo; however, a small portion is part of Tyreragh Barony in County Sligo. This info comes from http://sites.rootsweb.com/~irlmayo2/kilmoremoy_cp_characteristics.html
Also "Townlands were transferred from County Sligo's Tireragh Barony to Kilmoremoy after 1898," so this may explain the Mayo-Sligo confusion.

My son analyzed his DNA with 23 and me, The result was my son's DNA line comes primarily from County Mayo in Ireland, I thought it was neat. Grandma Maggie was spot on.
