My grandfather, Daniel Francis Hannon, was born in Tuam in Galway on October 31, 1867. His twin brother was James Hannon. I have no additional information about James. His parents were Nicholas Hannon, of Tirboy Road in Tuam, and Catherine Manning. Nicholas and Catherine had 14 children, all boys, only 6 of them lived. Of those, William, John, Patrick, Martin, Daniel and James.  Daniel emigrated to the US in the 1880's and married Marie LeBeller in 1910, settling in Valley Stream, NY. I have no information frgarding John, Martin or James and would love to find out if the came to the US any information about them.

  •  Dear Miriam,    Thank you so much for your help. I had no record of Nicholas' death. And the information on James.... I'm not sure if it's my James as the age would be different but hand written records could be wrong. Since he was my grandfather's twin, I am anxious to see if he is my great uncle. I think the first message you received regarding the Hannons was from a cousin of mine. We have been researching together. William Hannon was her grandfather. I look forward to hearing from you again.   Marianne

  • Hi Miriam... I am looking at Nicholas' death record and I am wondering if you can answer a question. In the box labeled " Signature, qualification and resident of informant", it names Catherine Hannon, wife +__________? present at deathe. I cannot figure out that last word. It does appear in each box. Any ideas?

  • Thank you Miriam. You have been so very helpful. I have never been able to find information on Nicholas' birth, or his parents. He was born in 1825 but I have no other information. Some people in the family think they were told that Nicholas" father might have been Michael Hannon, but I have not found that information either.Thank you so much for your help.   Marianne
