Hello, My name is Denise Lynch. I am trying to locate my great great grandparents. Their names are Michael Joseph Healy born 1837 Galway ( I think he was born in Galway), Margaret Rabbitt Healy born 1848,  ( I think she was born in Galway). They had 5 maybe 6 children I know off. Michael Joseph Healy born September 1875 in Galway, Thomas Healy born January 2, 1878 in Galway, there was another Thomas Healy I found in my records born July 6, 1880 in Galway, I don't know what relationship this second Thomas is all about. John Francis Healy born 1872 in Galway. They had a daughter Katie Healy born 1885 in Galway, and Martin Healy born March 24, 1884.

From my records they lived in Moneen East, Galway. I was wondering if there were more children in the family. I was also curious if there was more information on the parents such as where they came from.

Thank you,

Denise Lynch

Below are the 1901 and 1911 census records for your family. Michael Healy died before 1901. If you look closely at the 1911 record, it appears Margaret had six children.

  • Yes, I looked at the census, but I didn't see where it says she had six children. I was wondering where else I could look for additional information on the family.

  • Denise:

Look at columns 11 and 12 of the 1911 form. The original entries were erased but I can make out 6 in both columns. I checked out a subscription site and found two possible death index records for Michael Healy in the Loughrea registration district. If you want to check these records out further, you would need to write to the GRO www.groireland.ie  fill out their form, provide the registration district (Loughrea) quarter/year of death and the volume and page number and they will provide the death record for about 4 euros each. You can search

www.familysearch.org for other family members. I also checked the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Ardrahan parish. There was a James Healy in Moneen East townland. Possibly he was the father of Michael.

  • Hi I just came across your post! I have information on the Rabbit side. Margaret came from Clondarone tuam co. Galway. Born 1848 she had a brother John 1841 to 1890. She had a sister Bridget and an unnamed brother who I believe was Edward my great grandfather. Her parents were Catherine and William Rabbit.
