I am hoping someone can help me with tracing my ancestors, I have the following information;
My 3rd GF was Mark Kenny (1810-1881) The Griffith Valuation for Ratra Frenchpark - Lord John de-Freyne shows he had land/house at 7a/b. He married a Bridget Lyden on the 13th February 1832, they had 5 children. I am trying to trace his parents, I think i have found his father Patrick Kenny, although I cant find any information about him or a wife.
One of the children Charles Kenny (1842-1924) who was born Tibohine Fairymount Elphin is my 2nd GF he married a lady called Anne Birmingham on 9th February 1874 and it shows on the 1901 census them living at 16 Ratra and on the 1911 census census living at number 14 Ratra, They had 10 children of which I can account for although I can only find a small bit of information on 6 of them.
My 2nd great grandfather was only 4 at the time of the famine, I would really like to find out, how he and his family survived such a horrific period of time and live to a grand old age of 82. One of his children Mark my Great Grandfather left Ireland to Wales and then to Consett Co Durham.
If anyone has any information on my family I would be extremely grateful
Thank you
Melanie

Mel,
There is a Tithe Applotment record for Pat Kenny in Ratra and Cartrow Morrisroe, Tibohine parish, Roscommon, 1825.
Additionally, rootsireland shows the two witnesses to the marriage of Mark Kenny & Bridget Leyden to be John Leyden & Patrick Kenny. There is no way of knowing the witnesses' relationships to the couple though.
Regards,
Carolyn
