Hello, My Ancestors, the Sheehans at least came from Mallow, Co Cork, I'm wondering if there are any Gravestones for my Relatives? It might start w/my GGg'father, Patrick Sheehan & his Wife, my GGg'mother, Joanne/Joanna Regan, Theyre as far back as I;ve been able to get on my Sheehan Line! Learning the Dates & any other Facts about them & their Fammilies, Roots would be Fantastic! My Gg'parent Sheehans were John Timothy Sheehan & Mary Maher, Mary died over here in Malden, MA, along w/her Father James & some of her Siblings! I need to get Someone to look for her, her Fathers & Siblings Gravestones. I'd do it Myself, but I'm no longer mobile, due to  having broken both of my Hips in a 5 year period! John T. died in the Cork City Workhouse in 1882 of Pneumonia, were the People, who died  in the Workhouse buried there, or returned to their Home City/Village? I don't know, if Mary Maher's Family is from the Mallow area or not, but any Gravestone info about her Family would also be very much appreciated! My Ggparents were John Joseph Sheehan & Helena FitzGerald, he was born in Co. Cork,  in either Mallow or Dublin? Don't worry about him, he's buried along w/his Wife, Helena in St. Mary's RC Cemetery in Salem, MA, USA. Bur helenna was supposedly born in Skibbereen in 1863/5. I don't know, if her Family came from the Area around Skibbereen or Mallow again? Her Parents, my GGg'prents Mal were John Thomas FitzGerald & Jane Anne Leonard, they lived & died in Ireland! Mallow, Skibereen, Cork City? Any info. on the Leonarf Family would also be appreciated, I know Noting about them, but her Name & that she died before 1908 of Dropsy, because her Husband, my GGg'father then went to live w/One of his married Daughters, Mary FitzGerald O'Driscoll, Wife of Thomas O'Driscoll, I'm assuming in Cork City, where he lived until he died in 1908! Their other Children, Helena & Jeremiah J. FitzGerald came to America, but the Other Siblings stayed in Ireland. Katherine (Kate) Fitzgerald (4/13/1865-aft1900), William FitzGerald (5/5/1869-abt1910), Mary FitzGerald O'Driscoll (1869-aft1911), Jane Anne FitzGerald Joyce (9/24/1870-abt1930), John FitzGerald (9/24/1870-bef1920) & Mary Norah (Hanorah?) FitzGerald Joyce (7/4/1872-abt1900). That's ALL that I have! Thanks for Any & All Help! Be well, Jack MacDonald-Hilton.

  • Jack,

Not sure if you saw my previous message. Jane Leonard Fitzgerald died in 1873 in Cork City.

Helena F. and John Sheehan married in 1884 in Cork City.

I did not find any info on John Timothy nor his wife Mary Maher. On Roots, I found a Patrick Sheehan and Johanna Regan with the following children born in Mallow-Johanna 1848, Margaret Mary 1850, Patrick 1852, Denis 1854.

  • https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_retu…;  Death of a John Fitzgerald 17/3/1908, aged 67 years, widower, a baker by trade, the death is notified by his grand daughter Jane Driscoll which matches with the information you supplied, the address at the time was 23, St. Finbarr Street , Cork.

  • Eileen,

Per the 1901 census Mary Fitzgerald Driscoll was born about 1864. In 1901 she was living with her husband and family and her father, John, on St. Finbarr Street.

I believe Jane Ann Leonard Fitzgerald died in 1873 on Blarney St., age 35. She was designated as a baker's wife. Helene Leonard was with her.

Most of Jane's children were born on Blarney St. They attended St. Mary's Parish. I found the records on Ancestry.com.

Jack had another question on the message board about the Leonard family. I answered it earlier this week.

    Regards- Mary
