Hello if I am correct my father Leonard (Pat) and cousin Brian have chatted with Mary McLoughlin in regards to some wonderful research she has done on our family tree.

I am Suzie the third of 5 daughters of Pat. I am revisiting our family tree trying to find any information I can. In my search I fell upon Mary's name on this site. :-)

I am trying to connect Thomas and Winifred (Flynn) Fitzpatrick and have a question:

Their first born, John, 12/4/1858 is my grt grandfather at sometime in his life moved to England. I found information on him coming to  Pittsburgh, PA, United States with his wife Elizabeth and my grandfather (also) John from Manchester England on 12/6/1907, the SS Noordland. Elizabeth died 15/12/1911after giving birth to a daughter and soon after John put my grandfather and the baby girl (said to be named Elizabeth) into a Catholic Orphanage. He never saw his father or his sister again. I did (by the grace of God) find Elizabeth's grave, death certificate and a birth certificate for Baby Girl Fitzpatrick b:11/12/1911.  And I was able to connect with Elizabeth's Hawkins side of the family. Thats where it stops on John.

So I started with the other children the next born shows Mary Anne b: 4/6/1859, **I am praying you have a marriage showing Mary Anne (Fitzpatrick) to John Quinn**...because on the ship log it states John and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick (and my grandfather John) were going to see his sister Mary Quinn at 59 Elm St Pgh., PA. This would confirm our roots to Ballinasloe in stone! :-)

The only other child I see a possible connection, is the youngest Thomas Henry b:29/9/74. He might be the one I see on the 1911 England census living in Manchester, Eng. the age is a match, shows he is from Ballinasloe, Galway, and has a daughter named Winifred (like her grandmother).

Anyway, I am enjoying working on my family roots again after taking many years off....the technology is amazing compared to when I was in my 20's. So much easier!!

I hope to hear from Mary or anyone who can help me with my research.

Blessings,

Sue Fitzpatrick-Amrhein

  • Hi I have not heard from anyone. But in case you are also looking...I should tell you what I found today.

The last child shown born from Thomas and Winifred was Thomas Henry 29/9/1874 In Ballinasloe...

The next thing I found was 1881 England Census: address 11 Fletcher

1Thomas age 43 "Baker"(what Mary said he did) was at time of census an Invalid
    2Winifred age 43 Housewife
    3Maryann age 21 Cotten reeler
***so I am thinking she may have married in England to John Quinn not Ballinasloe--

    4---James age 20 Baker
---We did not have James on our list from Mary McLoughlin--can you confirm this child born before Margaret in 1862??---

    5Margaret age 18 Match Emp
    6Winifred age 16 match Emp
    7Joseph age 13 Laborer
    8Thomas age 6 Scholar

***all marked as born in Ireland***

1891 England Census: address 71 Oldham Rd

Winifred age 56 (s/b 53) **widow** (so Thomas died between the last census)
    Margaret age 28
    Winifred age 26
    Thomas age 16
-----NEW-- Emily Age 3 ***granddaughter (but who's child??? I will have to work this one out)

    --missing are Maryann w/b 31, James w/b 30 and Joseph w/b 23--
so I am thinking Maryann got married between these censuses...(I will work this one more)
James? Joseph? I will work on this too

1901 England Census: 93 Southwell St

    Winifred age 66 deaf
    James son, single, age 40
John son*****FINALLY MY GREATGRANDFATHER SHOWS UP**** AGE 43, single

********THE FOLLOWING IS WHERE ALL OF MARY MCLOUGHLIN WORK IS COMFIRMED BLOOD******

IN 1902 JOHN MARRIED ELIZABETH HAWKINS, I HAVE THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE AND THE ADDRESS IS 93 SOUTHWELL STREET!!!! YEAH BABY!!!!

NOW IF I CAN MOVE FORWARD AND FIND SOME LIVING COUSIN'S ETC WE CAN ALL COME TO BALLINASLOE FOR A FAMILY REUNION!!!! :-)

Today my head is spinning!! In a very good way!

    Regards,

    Suzie Fitzpatrick-Amrhein
