Hickey name in Barnane Applotment and valuation

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board.

You don't say when you are planning on visiting Ireland.  However, the Valuation record that you have found may be very useful to you.

There are maps associated with these records on the Ask About Ireland website.  When you click into the website and input your family name and location details, there will be a line item and at the far right side, there is a map.  You can click this on to see where your ancestor may have lived.  Be sure to note the Entry No. on the Valuation Page.

Alternatively, you can also view the area through the Ordinance Survey Ireland maps.  Their website is below.  If you type in the location of the area (Barnane, Templemore, County Tipperary), the map will come up.  You should click on the Base Map and then click on the 6 inch B & W version (which sould be very similar to the Griffith's Valuation maps) and you can also click on the other variations.  It is interesting to look at the Aerial 2005 and the 6 inch B & W together (which you can do by moving the cursor from left to right).  The link to this site is below:
