Hi, I'm looking for relatives of the family name Holland. I've been told we could be associated with the Ó hUallacháin Clan, that includes the Holland, Houlihan and O’Houlihan. I've attached a rough family tree from my Dad's side. It shows that my Great Great Great Grandfater, Michael J. Holland was born in April, 1828, County Cork, Ireland and married Jane Conners, born 1829 in Ireland. Although the Birtle name comes from England, those that have has DNA tests indicate even they may have come from Ireland origionaly. I think they were all Catholic.  My father, George J. Holland, recently passed. My mother's maiden name was O'Laughlin.

Thank you,

George R. Holland

From what I can see your Holland family likely came from the south and west of Co. Cork. Church records for that area are found on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie  I searched the site for a marriage record for Michael Holland to a Conners but found none. There were also Michael Holland baptismal records around 1828 but none in April. Also, many immigrants changed their year of birth when they emigrated.

Have you considered DNA testing? You may get matches to third cousins who may have more info on the family.
