My GGgrandmother Anne Hollis (listed "of Fish Street") married James Oldham in Cork in 1809 (St Nicholas). My family knows pretty much about the Oldham (English) family but virtually nothing about the Hollis family. I have been able to find her sister Alice (Alicia-born 1792?) Hollis married Thomas Bennett (born 1790?, optometrist) in Cork in 1812. Anne writes about her nieces and nephews in a letter I have to confirm the connection. Thomas and Alice had these children: George, John (married Catherine Ballard-occupation solicitor), Anne (married John Sealy Austen-Blair Castle), Thomas (married Jane Bennet) and Joseph (married Mary Hannah Dealy-occupation solicitor). I have probably also found a brother Robert Hollis, also of Fish Street-Livery and stable owner, 1821 directory, who married Margaret Walsh in Cork in 1809. I don't have any more proof than that so I can't be sure it a brother rather than a cousin or some other relative. I would like to know if anyone is familiar with the Hollis family. I wonder if the parents might have been in the military. In one letter Anne askes her daughter in law if she is familiar with the Daunt family, who was in the military (her daughter in law Mary Cole lived in Kinsale). Thanks!
