Looking for the family of Mary Horan (1844-1896) She died in Philadelphia PA USA.
Found a marriage for Wm Stanley and Mary Horan both Roman Catholic. Her address was listed "at Birr", January 31, 1867. Parish: Loorha, Birr, Tipperary. His addresss was not listed. However I know he was from Annagh, Loorha Tipperary.
On our visit to Birr in 2012, Mrs. Murray in the RC Church office in Birr tried to find marriage and birth records of the Horans. Much to her dismay she found nothing. She did give me the names of the smaller churches around Birr. I would like to contact the smaller churches (chapels?) to see if they have information on Mary's family. Her father was Patrick and her mother Judy Hardy. Any help with this "stone wall" is greatly appreciated.

Hi Mary Jo,
Thank you for your message.
The Irish TImes have a very useful feature on their websites whereby they give an overview of what Catholic records are available in specific parishes and also where you can find copies of the records:
As you can see from this records began in 1838 for the parish and there are copies available at Irish Midlands Ancestry . If you would like to contact them here is their email address: info@ofalyhistory.com please note however that there may be a fee. Alternatively, most Catholic records are still held locally so you should try and contact the churches that Mrs. Murray gave you. I?m sure if you do a Google search you will find their contact details.
All the best,

Hello Mary,
I have a neightbour Horan whose family are originally from Birr so I have sent him an email -- and am also trying to find out about Loorha (or Lorrha in Tipperary which is very near). I will post here if I can find out anything.
