Albert:
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie and did not find any baptismal records for children of Hugh Collins and a wife Bridget from 1837-1850. More than likely the parish the children were baptized in no longer has records back to the pre-1850 time period.
I don't know if you looked for USA census records, death records etc.
You may want to consider DNA testing. Possibly you will have matches with 3rd and 4th cousins on the Collins line who may have more info on the family.
By far the sunrame Collins was most common in Co. Cork but was also found in good numbers in Co. Kerry, Co. Dublin, Co. Galway, Co. Limerick and Co. Clare.
