Hello,
My great-great grandmother was Charlotte Humphrey born November 18 1834 in Leitrim Ireland. Her siblings were at least, Elizabeth born 1832 in Cavan, John born 1833 and Frances born 1843. The county of birth for John and Frances is unknown. The parents were Parker Humphrey and Frances Pollock. There is a Tithe Applotment record for Parker Humphreys in Leitrim, Carrigalen Parish, Townland of Drumbreanless in 1834, and a Griffiths Valuation record for Cavan, Parish of Drumlane, Townland of Deralk in 1857. They were tenants in both these instances. The children had emigrated to Canada by 1854 and I have found all the Canadian records available for them family via Family Search and Ancestry. I do not know if the parents emigrated.
Having previously enquired about records in Leitrim I am aware that there are no church records available there. But recently I found out about Elizabeth and that she was born in Cavan. I would now like to know if there is any information available in Cavan. They were Church of Ireland so expect that there are none. I have explored the lists of surviving C of I records that I was advised of in my previous query, and it appears there are none for the parish of Drumlane. However I do not know where they lived in Cavan at the time of Elizabeth’s birth (1832) so there is still a chance that something may be available.
I’m also aware that both Humphrey and Pollock are not necessarily Irish names but could be Scottish or English. So wonder if their forebears were part of the Plantation scheme. Any general information about Humphrey/Humphries or Pollock families would be welcome. And just by the way, is the first name Parker a common one?
We will be visiting Leitrim, Cavan and Cork in early September this year. I will submit a separate query about my Cork people. They were Catholic so I have been able to find some records that I believe pertain to them.
Many thanks for any information at all.

Hi Stephanie,
My name is Bill Wagner. My great grandmother was Margaret (Humphrey) Collins and my great grandmother was Francis (Humphrey) Pollock. I would love to hear from you.

I see that I have mixed that up. My great great grandmother's maiden name was Pollock. Married William Parker Humphrey and my great grandmother's maiden name was Humphrey. Married William Collins.

Hello Bill,
It is great to hear from you. I had given up on any further finds in my Humphrey/Pollock line. You will have most of my information from my original post on Ireland Reaching Out. We did go to Ireland in 2019 but found nothing new. We did drive to locations mentioned in the Tithe Applotment records and the Griffiths Valuation but didn't get any photos.
I have not run into any records that show Parker Humphrey also having the forename of William.
Some time ago I started tracing Charlotte's sister Elizabeth and found that she had married Abraham Curry who it turned out owned the inn where Charlotte was employed in Pembroke. The Currys ended up in the Sudbury area and had children. I have not traced the children down the generations yet.
Unfortunately Charlotte died before her grandchildren were born so the only story we had anecdotaly was "She was Irish." Not much to go on. So I have made considerable progress through records alone.
So when was your Margaret born and where? Are you in Canada or Ireland? And Did you find Margaret's information online? Or was it from family stories?
We must be cousins of some degree. Frances Pollock is my great-great-great grandmother. If she is your great-great grandmother I believe that makes us third cousins once removed.
I'm very glad you have written.
regards,
Stephanie
