We are looking for information about John Henry Carlin, born in Kinvara, left behind as an
infant by his parents, Michael Carlin and Sabina Grady when they emigrated to the USA in
about 1852. John Henry came to the USA, indicating he lived his entire early life in Kinvara, and
rejoined his parents in 1866, ultimately farming in Fountain Prairie Wisconsin on land in the
same county as his parents. After both of his parents and his wife died, with most of his
children grown, he remarried and moved first to North Dakota and then ultimately Washington
State.
We are interested in any information about where he grew up, with whom he stayed while a
youth, what other Irish family members he had, anything on the part of his life while in Ireland.
His father’s records indicate he was from Co Clare. We don’t yet have much information on his
mother. We are searching through Irish Catholic church records on line, but haven’t been
successful yet.
