thankyou for your interest. only information i have is my grgrand father william savage was born 1856/7 belfast northern ireland.possibly antrim.he migrated to carlisle cumberland england where he married mary ann maloney also of irish descent. they had three children mary jane born 1881,ellen [my grandmother born 1887]and joseph.i have ?father charles savage, mother surname mallard but not sure of this or any siblings william might have had. some say william was born in county down, but i really do'nt know. he died age 48 in 1906 and was a builders labourer. i have no grave stone information as i think he might be buried in a paupers grave.i have tried every search possible with no luck.any thing that can be found re his irish roots would help thankyou helen

Hello Helen,
Go to irishfamilyhistoryfoundation website . Its part of the rootsireland web. I put in your name william savage 1856 and got many hits. It shows records born 5 years either side of that date. I then narrowed it down to co antrim, and got 2 hits. I then put in the father's name charles and got one hit for 1856. I then put in Mallard and got yhe same record.
I then went to the county genealogy centre of Antrim and imput the same information. I then scrolled down through the RC records (thanks for telling me what religion he was , it halves the job of searching) . I found that he was born in St. Patrick's Parish , Belfast , in 1856. If you want to view this record the site charges about €5.
I briefly searched the marriage records for Antrim but couldn't find a marriage for Charles and his wife ? Mallard. They could have been married in a neighbouring county or maybe she is scottish?
Anyway, the record is there and will be a thread to stard pulling in you unravelling of the family history.
Hope this is of help to you,
Kind regards,
