Hello,
Attached is my DNA Orgins from Ireland from the following areas:
Dongeal Island
south Dongeal
Muster Island
Loop head Pensissula
North Munster
West Claire
Connacht
North Connacht
West Roscommon East Mayo
South Sligo
North Roscommon
Surnames I am researching are:
Mulligan ,Connelly, Egan, Partridge, McCormick, McNellis, Campbell, Carroll, Griffin
As far as I can tell they all immagrated over between 1800-1850 landing in Ohio and Northern Kentucky.
I believe Egan and Connelly were married before coning over as well as Partridge and McCormick. I will be visiting Ireland in July and I would like to visit the areas of my grandparents. Any help would be a treasure.

Can you provide more specifics? Names and when your ancestors emigrated (approximately). Have you looked at familysearch.org or Ancestry to see if there are additional clues in American records about where in Ireland some ancestors came from. Irish civil records do not begin until 1864 and church records pre-1850 are hit and miss as far as availability. Co. Donegal is very difficult with pre-1850 records.

Hi Roger ,
Thank you for reaching out. I am on Ancestry and Family search and FTDNA and several others. I pulled the lucky straws when it came to my Irish ancestors! They want to stay hidden from me. Here is some of the puzzle pieces I am working on.
Peter Partridge and Helen McCormick - The first record of them I have on a 1834 census in Brown Perry Co Ohio. His grave marker and the 1850 Census has his birth at 1794 Ireland.
There is a John Partridge listed on a 1822 census and he appears again on a later 1836 census with Peter then nothing. I found nothing of him on a quick ancesrty search. I did find a single John Partridge that immagrated over in 1815 on Roots Ireland but no mention of a family or son.
I have saved a marriage document from Irish catholic parish for a Pat Patridge and a Elen McCormick ARDAHG and MOYDOW married 2 MAR 1824 diocese ARDAHG, I am hoping that this is them but I have not found any ship information. Their first daughter Bridget was born in Ohio in 1826. I reached out to the cathoilc archives at the Archdioces to see if they have a copy of the burial record with Patricks fathers name and or his mothers name. It looks like the whole family was buried there. I called St. Angela Merici Roman Catholc Cementry in Fayetteville Ohio and they do not offer genealogy services but I can go there to look at the books, but I live in Arizonia, not a quick trip. I have his will and it does not mention where in Ireland that he came from. If Patrick is the one from ARDAGH and was married in 1824 then I should be able to find a ship with them on it between 1824 and 1826 when his daughter was born. I have come up empty handed.
Some on Ancestry has his wife Helen McCormick being born in 1802 from CullenoughCo Westmeath with parents of Thomas McCormik and Bridget O'Rorke I have not beeen able to prove or disprove if this is correct. So I have just left it.
Patrick had a son named Bernard he married a Margaret McNellis . She is my 2nd great grandmother. this is what I know of her:
Margaret McNellis
Born abt 1843 in Ireland her parents are John/Patrick Cornelius McNellis and her mother was Anna Campbell. On certificate his name is Patrick Cornelius and others has it as John Cornelius or sometimes he goes just by Cornelius. I was able to get the names of his parents James McNellis and his mothers name was Mary, ( no last name) that came from the cemetry record.
Anna Campbell parents were James Campbell and Margaret McCole. Nothing comes up on Roost Ireland or on https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/ I have been slowly going through records on https://registers.nli.ie/registers trying to match the names together, so far nothing.
John James Mullian and Mary Egan
Great Grandfather John James Mulligan, b 2 Feb 1847 in Ireland. His death certificate says he was 60 years old
His death certificate has his father's name as Martin, mother unattainable He has various birth dates and years His grave marker has his date of birth as 1838 1870 census b as 1848 1880 census b 1847 1900 census b Dec 1848 1910 census b 1850 His first wife is Elizabeth (Bessie) is buried at https://www.stjoenew.com/page/genealogy New St. Joe burials. The record for Elizabeth Mulligan, buried 7 Aug 1871, states that her parents were “Anthony & Elizabeth Hesen”. The indexed information also states that she was from County Mayo and the priest was “Eggelmeers”. There are two records one has her named spelled as Hesen the other as Hazen.
I don’t know if he was married in Ireland or New York since their eldest child Mary was Born in New York. It is listed on her death certificate and on census. Her date of birth on her certificate was Sept 29, 1873. I found a record from Find my past of a Mary Ann Mulligan born 18 Sep 1865. She was baptized. 1 Oct 1865 at St Francis Xavier church in Manhattan NY her parents were John Mulligan and Elizabeth Hardin.
Also, I have found a John Married to an Elizabeth in Roscommon with a father named Martin
A civil marriage registration by John Mulligan in 1865 in the registration district of Roscommon Co. Ireland. Martin was the name listed as father on his death certificate. But my grandfather was Caatholic.
Marriage location: (Glinsk, Ireland, Catholic Diocese of Elphin
A copy of an 1865 Passenger list for John and Mary A. Mulligan. Details: New York, Passenger and Crew Lists (including Castle Garden and Ellis Island), 1820-1957. Film Image #7; dated: June 23, 1865, ship---William Tapscott. Ages on the list seem to match the 1870 US Census. The name of Mary that is listed obviously does not match the first name of an Elizabeth.
(Glinsk, Ireland, Catholic Diocese of Elphin.FYI: this is the same location where Mary Eagan and John Connelly married) Those bieng the names of Mary Egans Parents his second wife with whom he married shortly after Elizabeth died Elizabeth died Aug 1 1871 he married Rose/Annie Connelly on September 13 1871.
Simon Carroll and Katherine Griffin
Simon and Katherine first show up on a 1870 census. On the 1900 census has his birth as Feb 1840, it says they were married in 1860, so must be in Ireland. They immigrated over in 1867, have not found them on a ship. I was able to get the following information from New St Joes cementary where they are burined . It says that he was from Clare Co Ireland and his parents names were Michael Carroll and Norah McNanny or McNeary. It hard to read his mothers last name on his death certificate as well but that what it looks like. I have found nothing on Roots Ireland, or https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/ , or Ancesrty or family search.
Katherine/Catherine the census has her born Sept 1846 no mother or father on her death certificate or on her cementary record it says she died of TB thats it.
Any help at all would be a treasure, thank you,

roger,
got this today! It may settle the partridge line what do you think?
RE: Partridge at old cemetery
Janis, I added memorials for your relatives, Patrick & Ellen McCormick from Brown County, OH Genealogical Society records. Back in the 1960's, somebody walked the cemetery and documented all the headstones including Patrick & Ellens. The information did not include anything about their parents, but did include the counties in Ireland where they were from (Longford and Westmeath). This info is only as good as who ordered and paid for the headstones after their death. Wish I had more info for you!

Jan:
I did a number of searches for all of your family and have not turned up any additional clues. I can see from your narrative that you have invested a lot of time and resources to get where you are now. I also saw your last note. McCormick is very strong in Westmeath and Partridge although rare was from Longford so at least you have the counties although those areas don't show up in your DNA listing. McNelis is a strong Donegal name and Campbell also although Campbell is also very strong in the Northern Ireland counties.
Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Roger,
Thank you for your help. I will dig where you mention with the names. My 39% Irish DNA is broken into
Donegal
Muster
Connacht
I am going with the Longford connection for the Partridge and McCormick line .
I did find a Patrick born to a Peter and Honor Partridge. Feb or 1798, I had his birth just as 1795. Because I now have the information form the cementry I am feeling that this could be him. My Patrick did name his first son Peter , his daughters were Bridget,Mary Ann, and Catherine no Honor. I will have to check and see if Peter and Honors children stayed in Ireland or if they were the ones I am looking for . No ship records yet, ugh! I don't understand why it is so hard to find them on a ship record!! Since I have the marrige record with them married there that is also a good link. I am searching for Helen McCormick in WestMeath now she I assume is from Cullenough, Co Westmeath, Ireland. I looked it up. It looks close to the parish of Multifarnham. I am searching those now. Helen is not a common name like Mary or Bridget. I am not having mush sucess yet.
I will take the hint and look for McNellis and Campbell in Dongel since I do have that higlited in my DNA
I think I found Egan and Connelly in Galway I was hunting them until the hint came in for Partridge. I wish I could find my Mulligan! He has been the most difficult, I wonder if Martin was his fathers name? I guess I should start looking for MArtins born about the time of John maybe his brother is named after his dad and I could trace it that way?
I am making a list of books to look at in the reading room at the National Archives, I booked my reading ticket hopefully by the time I leave Ireland I will have found my Mulligan and plane a second visit!!
Thanks again
Blessing

I think Mulligan is a Mayo/Sligo/Roscommon surname (Connacht) and also found in Northern Ireland but since you don't show Ulster DNA, I would look at Mayo/Sligo/Roscommon.

Jan,
Reading through your post as I found it searching for Mulligan posts. Not only do we share the Mulligan surname but also Carroll and McCormick. All immigrated mid 1800's. Only document I have found is a Naturalization document for my 2x gr grandfather Laurence Mulligan who stated he was from Dublin. I have DNA matches linked to southern Dublin Co. and the Kildare County line. One of these matches is a descendant of a Mulligan..but we can not prove a link.
Do you have a DNA test on Ancestry? My tree there is Mulligan Hopfinger Tree. I would love to see if we DNA link. I have 4 family member tests linked to this Mulligan, Carroll, McCormick branch of my tree. Carroll and McCormick surnames are linked to my grandmother, Mulligan is my grandfather.

Hi Kim!
yes, I am on Ancestry, GED Match, Family tree DNA, Geni, and My Heritage! My tree on Ancestry is Janis van Ryswyk nee Howison. Yes! let's see if we can find a Match! I was able to trace my Carroll line to Kilrush/ Scattery Island area of county Clare Ireland. I was in Ireland this summer and was able to visit the church where Sinon Carroll married Katherine Griffin. I will pop on Ancestry and see if we have a match. My email is janisv@q.com.
Thanks for reaching out!

Hi Jan,
I found your DNA test on Ancestry. I compared your test with mine, my brother's, one of my Mulligan uncles and a cousin, and unfortunately there were no matches between any of us.
Well we gave it a good shot!
Good luck,
