Ivory from Waterford toBrooklyn, NY, USA 1850s via Canada2 March, 2013 - 11:51  |  fitzgfny fitzgfny's picture

Looking for Ivory and Lyons family ancestors.  John Ivory and Mary (nee Lyons) Ivory emigrated to USA via Canada abt 1850s.  We think John died in Quebec, Canada shortly after arriving there.  We have data on sons  William, Thomas, John and perhaps a daughter , Mary,  from abt 1855 in Brooklyn, NY and some of their descendants to present.  According to Thomas obit abt 1880/81 in Brooklyn he was from Waterford area.  He was a restauranteer, saloon keeper in Brooklyn but made a few trips back to his hometown. Any help is appreciated.

  • There is a Castle Garden NY arrival record for a John Ivory born 1828 Ireland, arrived onboard the ''Hope'' on 13 October  1848 he was a laborer and boarded the Hope in Liverpool England.

On www.rootsireland.ie there is a baptism record for John Ivory born 1828 in Ballyporeen county Waterford , this would match the Castle Garden record and your information that John was born in Waterford

www.rootsireland.ie is a pay-to-view website, where you can buy credits online at 5 Euro per record.

    Hope this helps
