I'm trying to locate any birth information or evidence of where my GG grandparents came from in Cork. I believe they lived in or around Cork City.

James Arthur: Born January 1833

Catherine Lynch: Born June 1830

First son, Cornelius Patrick, born 1862

James and Catherine emigrated via New York to Canton, Norfolk County, Massachusetts on 17 May 1864 where they remained and raised their family, died and were buried. Other children born in Massachusetts.

I can't find a passenger list listing Cornelius as traveling with them, and the State Census of 1865 lists their family as James, Catherine and baby daughter Ellen. Cornelius shows up in the next census. I'm wondering if perhaps they emigrated without him and perhaps someone else brought him later, after they were settled.

Thanks for any information!

Cathy

  • RootsIreland gives the marriage of James Leary, Catherine Lynch, on 22-Feb-1862 in the Catholic parish of
KILNAMARTYRA, Co. Cork. First marriage for both. John Lynch, Daniel Leary, were witnesses.

  • I searched rootsireland and irishgenealogy but did not find Cornelius's birth.

Have you searched passenger records for him?
